Airtran Airways Adds New Caribbean Service

AirTran Airways recently announced that it will be adding new service to Nassau, Bahamas, and Montego Bay, Jamaica.

AirTran Airways will begin flights to Nassau on Dec. 17 and to Montego Bay, Jamaica, on Feb. 11, 2010. Both destinations will feature nonstop flights from Atlanta, Baltimore/Washington, and Orlando, and connecting service from over 40 other AirTran cities.

The airline currently offers service to Cancun, Mexico; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Phoenix, AZ; Las Vegas, NV; New Orleans, LA; and nine cities in Florida, as well as service to 22 cities from Baltimore/Washington.

Pet Airways, the first-ever all-pet airline, is an alternative to transport dogs and cats between five major cities. (New York, Washington, Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles)

Dogs and cats will fly in the main cabin of a Suburban Air Freight plane, retooled and lined with carriers in place of seats. Pets (about 50 on each flight) will be escorted to the plane by attendants who will check on the animals every 15 minutes during flight. The pets are also given pre-boarding walks and bathroom breaks. And at each of the five airports it serves, the company has created a “Pet Lounge” for future fliers to wait and sniff before flights.
